Why Work for APS?

As the second largest First Nations police service in Ontario, the Anishinabek Police Service provides services to 16 unique First Nations communities.

  • Our jurisdiction spans a vast geographic area from southern Ontario on the shores of Lake Huron, up to northern Ontario on the shores of Longlac
  • A number of our Detachments are just a short drive from nearby urban centres, including London, North Bay, Peterborough, Thunder Bay, Sault Ste. Marie, Sarnia and Thunder Bay.
  • Detachment locations offer convenient access to unparalleled outdoor experiences.

Whether fishing, hunting, hiking, camping, boating or snowmobiling, your time outside of work will be rich with opportunities to explore the wild.

The Anishinabek Police Service supports equal opportunity initiatives.

Accommodations will be provided, in accordance with applicable legislation, at all stages of the hiring process. Contact us if you require an accommodation, and we will work with you to meet your needs.

Experienced Hires

Members of our Service have a significant impact on the communities they serve – which are often their own communities. We embrace the Seven Grandfather Teachings, and have embedded a Traditional Knowledge Keeper into our service delivery model. As a result, our approach to policing is one that is both culturally responsible and sensitive.

We are a growing service offering competitive salaries and pension (in parity with the Ontario Provincial Police), benefits and opportunities for professional development and growth, excellent training, and cultural enrichment. Our Employee Family Assistance Program is stewarded by the first all-Indigenous virtual mental wellness provider in Canada offering culturally safe and timely access to mental health services by Indigenous care providers.

Join us in our vision of Ganaweniim Anishinabek – Protecting our People.
